Through the
Washington Presbytery office Jeanne Clapp and partner in hunger, Becky
Washabaugh will continue to assist you in your efforts to fight hunger
in 2008. There are lots of exciting ways for your congregation to become
involved! When
Jesus said, “You give them something to eat.” Mark he
was talking to YOU.
“Now serving good coffee …
for a good cause” Why
do we encourage you to use fairly traded coffee?
Marian McClure, director of Worldwide Ministries says it best.
“When economic globalization causes some of God’s children to
suffer, we can show God’s love in concrete ways by our lifestyle choices
as congregations and individuals.” Fair
traded coffee offers farmers a better chance at life, it’s as simple as
that! By your purchase of fair
traded coffee, tea and chocolate, these farmers earn a fair share of the
income. Our
job is to introduce you to fairly traded coffee, tea and chocolate. We
don’t intend to become your source of coffee; we can’t possibly keep
on hand all varieties of coffee and tea. We are here to show you how to
order your coffee products directly from the Presbyterian Coffee Project.
It’s easy!!! You can order online or by telephone, 774-776-7366 or
download order form at www.pcusa.org/coffee.
If you don’t use Equal Exchange fairly traded coffee, tea & chocolate….. WHY NOT!? This is one of the simplest ways you can directly impact the welfare of a family in the most positive of ways. It’s a win/win situation. You get a great product at a fair price while providing a living wage to hard-working families. We can answer all your questions and help you get started, give us a call. Peace, Jeanne Cents-Ability is a small first
step in the battle against hunger and poverty. Members of Presbytery are
invited to contribute a few cents into the offering boxes at every presbytery
meal beginning in May. This simple act is an expression of thanks for
what we have received. It is also a commitment to share with others in
response to Jesus' command "You give them something to eat."
These Cents-Ability coins will go directly to the PCUSA Hunger Fund for
national and international hunger projects. We’re hoping every congregation
will join the Cents-Ability program. More information can be found
at www.pcusa.org/hunger .
